They Say You Won't Go Bald - But I May Be the Exception

Ugh!!! The hair loss!! I can feel how much my hair has thinned, and it is awful. I can see it, too. And I am always cleaning out the drain when I shower - there's so much! I'm afraid I'll go be bald.

I think I've got Sheila's hair loss beat:

Yuck, yuck, yuck. Do not like. This is just from this morning's shower, God only knows how much made it down the drain.

  1. At what point post-surgery did this start, Julie? I'm at six weeks and haven't noticed much shedding yet.

  2. Hi Taylor! It's been about three weeks, I'd say, so right around three months post-op for me. It seems to kick in around 3-5 months post-op, I think.

It is hateful. Ew. But they say you won't go bald and it will grow back. :) It's worth it, haha!

  3. UGH! I soooooo hear ya my sleeve sista!!! This sucks. I didn't post the icky pictures (remember) the only one I could stomach was the one when it was stuck on my brush. lol.

Mine didn't start really shedding badly until about 4 months post-op and I'm 6 months now so for 2 steady months is has been thinning, thinning, thinning.... :(

But Julie is RIGHT! It is worth it. When I was morbidly obese I would have given my left ARM to be able to lose the weight and keep it off.

    Hang in there little lady!

  4. I am sooo not looking forward to this! Luckily I have lots of hair, but really don't want to lose it all.

Sheila, you are so true...I would have cut off all my hair to be thin and stay that way.

  5. It's no fun! Before this started happening, my hair stylist said that I have lots of hair, so even though it is fine, it shouldn't be a problem or be noticeable. We'll see what he says tomorrow when I see him again. I can see a difference, but maybe just because I can *feel* a difference. I've grilled my poor friends, who claim they cannot see it.

Either way, I am 60 pounds lighter and well on my way toward being thin! Hair will grow back and I'll get to keep the hot body! :)

  6. Yes you can cover up and disguise thinning hair, but you can't cover up and disguise fat. Black only goes so far.
I've had hair loss too, but I'd rather be the size I am now

  8. OMG, WaningWoman....you nailed it. YOU can deal with less hair there are TONS of ways to disguise your head and or hair loss. When you are morbidly obese there is NO WHERE TO HIDE!!!
